Yue Tang, Associate Principal Cello of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Dublin, Ireland, is a distinguished cellist originally from Beijing. He studied cello performance at the Central Conservatory of Music (Beijing), University of Southern California, Oberlin College, and the Royal Irish Academy of Music (Dublin). Yue has won numerous awards, including the Gold Prize at the World Classical Music Awards 2023 and the Grand Prize at the Vienna International Music Competition 2023, where he performed at the Musikverein in Vienna. Prior joined RTÉ Concert Orchestra in Dublin, Ireland as Sub-Principal Cello in 2008, he was member of Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia, Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, Miami City Ballet, Symphony of America and Atlantic Classic Orchestra. He has shared the stage with artists such like Mstislav Rostropovich, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domigo, Kiri Te Kanawa, Lang Lang, Sir. James Galway, Joseph Silerstein, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Zubin Mehta, Lalo Schifrin, John Williams, Bryn Terfel, Angela Gheorghiu and many more.
His solo cello album “Variations on Cello” was well received by public and has been played regularly on Lyric FM. He has also made his TV appearance on RTÉ One reality show “Instrumental” in 2012 as cello tutor and solo cello performance on “Dancing with the stars” in 2019 and 2023 and Flora commercial in 2023. From 2015-2023, Yue was acting Section Leader cello of RTÉ Concert Orchestra and has led the section in CO’s first China Tour in 2017. He was appointed Associate Principal Cello in April 2024. As a devoted cello teacher, Yue has worked with students from all stages, many of them have achieved Distinction and Merit of their ABRSM grade exams. Two of his students Enjuan Han and Shirley Lu have won First Prize in under 11 and under 13 divisions in Irish Nation Music Competition Feis Ceoil 2024.
Yue is currently living in Orange County as a cello teacher and freelance musician.
